Roland recently released a Sound Canvas app which contains sounds from the classic Sound Canvas modules, including the original SC-55. I listened to some recordings from it playing DOS game music, and it is extremely accurate (far better than the poor-quality VSC), so that's pretty cool. Unfortunately, it's iOS exclusive.
Also, an unofficial SC-88 soundfont was released titled "JaZMan SF88". I don't have it at this time, so I can't really comment on its accuracy. And the price (as of this writing) is...$89.95 USD...Roland's Sound Canvas app on the other hand has a bajillion more sounds and features, and yet it is only like $20.
UPDATE: Roland released Sound Canvas VA for Windows and Mac. Here is a video: https://youtu.be/wdQ2zYiO3eg
